Dental Circle meeting, King’s Dental Institute, London

21 April 2014 – Members of the Dental Circle met with the dean, Prof.Dianne Rekow, at Guy’s Tower to get an update on what has been happening at the Institute. Money from the fund has been used to help students in need and for research, especially in stem cell osteogenesis.
A most exciting prospect, as far as I am concerned, is the near completion of the West Norwood Health Centre. This is a new £14.2million leisure and health centre, the product of a highly successful collaboration between King’s Health Partners and Lambeth Primary Care Trust (as was) and Lambeth Council. It is on schedule to open in late spring next year. This development includes state-of-the-art leisure, medical and dental facilities. The dental services will be a training centre run by King’s College London Dental Institute offering free dental care.
The close proximity of the dental and medical clinics will, hopefully, open the way for dialogue between these two disciplines.
