Paul Chek Meeting 19 June, RAC club, London

This meeting was arranged by the Chairman of the British Society for the Study of Cranio-Mandibular Disorders, Dr Andre Hedger. Fifty-six people attended including dentists, osteopaths and chiropractors.

Paul Chek is an holistic practitioner and life coach. He has worked with a number of top athletes and sports teams in the USA. He has compiled a programme to address their need for “State of the Art” health. However, he also has many patients with chronic health problems.

He believes that many illnesses stem from dehydration and that mental attitude to life also plays a significant role in our general well being.

He has designed a “totem pole ” depicting  key body functions. At the top is respiration, then comes oral balance so that stage by stage he addresses any problems.

14th International Symposium for Facial Growth Guidance 15 June, Gatwick

At this Symposium I met up with colleagues from America, Canada, Japan and the UK , all places where I have lectured in the past for this group. The programme included a host of specialist subjects from Research Projects, Change within the Dental Profession, Myotherapy Appliances and Case presentations. The one that stood out for me was Gill Rapley’s presentation – ” Baby Led Weaning “. Gill is a Health Visitor and the author of the book by the same name. See. www.rapleyweaning.com.

Dr Mike Mew explained in detail the importance of correct tongue posture in driving the maxilla forward during facial development. Most malocclusions were associated with retrognathic maxillas and this resulted in deficient nasal and pharyngeal airways and forward head posture as well as crooked teeth.

Dr Derek Mahoney introduced the  MFS (Multifunction System) designed by Professor Jose Von Arx in Barcelona. These are well tolerated and can bring about significant changes in the oral muscles. All exciting new develeopments.

The Case Presentations all showed greatly improved facial aesthetics.
