MULTI-DISCIPLINARY APPROACH TO CRANIOFACIAL DISORDERS

Dr Helen Jones

Helen is a retired specialist orthodontist who has been associated with BSSCMD since its inception. Her presentation “Exploring the Wider Role of Dentistry” will cover the effect that jaw problems can have on the Airway, TMJ, Posture and Movement Disorders.

An integrated approach to treatment, with collaboration with other disciplines, will help us to deliver the optimal outcome for our patients

Dr Michael Trenouth

Michael is a Consultant Orthodontist and early member and supporter of the Cranio Group. His Presentation will be “A  prospective  randomized  clinical  trial  of  two  alternative  designs  of  Twin-block  appliance “.

Ian Hedley

Ian is a US trained physical therapist specialising in cranial work. Particularly a technique that utilises deep tissue work, craniopathy, proprioceptive testing and endonasal ballon therapy. He is  also a 3rd year dental student at Guy’s hospital, London. Ian’s Presentation will be

“An introduction to Neuro Cranial Restructuring and treating the T in TMJD”.

Jake Cooke

Jake Cooke (chiropractor) graduated from the Anglo-European College of Chiropractic with a Masters in Chiropractic. He spent his first four years practicing in the Netherlands and whilst in Holland his long term interest in neurology became a passion. He commenced a further three years course in functional neurology and is now one of only a few chiropractors in the UK that is a member of the American Chiropractic Neurology Board. He regularly travels to the world renowned Carrick Brain Center, Atlanta, USA, to continue to learn with other experts.

Jake receives tricky neurological cases from the other chiropractors in the clinic, as well as from other professionals elsewhere. Through a detailed examination and specific treatment plan he aims to increase the function of both body and brain thus providing long-term health changes. His areas of special interest include headaches and migraine, dizziness and balance problems, post concussion syndromes and nerve entrapments and neuralgias.

Jake’s Presentation will be about “Neuro-orthopaedic rehabilitation, assessing how the nervous system controls balance, posture and movement”.

Dr André Hedger

Dr André Hedger qualified from Guy’s Hospital in London in 1978 (GDC No. 52634). He holds a Bachelor in Dental Surgery and Licenciate in Dental Surgery degree.He started his Private Family Practice in Great Bookham in 1981.

He runs the British Society for the Study of Cranio-Mandibular Disorders (BSSCMD).

He is a Fellow of the Hypnotherapy Society

Andre is also a member of the British Orthodontic Society (BOS) and the International Association for Orthodontics (IAO).

He is a member of the British Dental Acupuncture Society (BDAS), the British Society for Clinical and Applied Hypnosis (BSCAH), The American Academy of Craniofacial Pain (AACP), The International Academy of Oral Medicine and Toxicology (IOAMT) and Patients Against Mercury Amalgams (PAMA). He is in the British Society for Dental Sleep Medicine (BSDSM) as well as several other Specialist Groups.

Dr André Hedger is a Dental Phobia Certified practitioner.

He lectures in the UK and internationally on TMD, Orthodontics, Hypnosis, Nutrition, Acupuncture and his favorite hobby Rock and Ice Climbing.

Andre’s Presentation will be ” Why is a Multi-Disciplinary Approach needed in a Cranio Mandibular Disorders?”
